Assessment days

Assessment days

If your application for a summer vacation scheme or training contract is successful, you will be invited to an assessment day at Atlantic House, enabling you to find out more about the firm.

The day has been designed as a two-way process where you will find out more about what we can offer you and we can find out whether you have the qualities we need from our lawyers.

The assessment day includes:

  • an introduction to the firm from a partner and associates, so you can learn about the latest client deals and what our lawyers have been working on
  • critical/analytical thinking test – this test is designed to help us assess how quickly you can analyse data, a key skill for our lawyers
  • informal buffet lunch with trainee solicitors
  • (training contract assessment day only) commercial business exercise, undertaken with fellow candidates. This is designed to see how you work in a team – a key ability for all our lawyers
  • interview with two partners or a partner and a senior member of the graduate recruitment team
  • guided tour of Atlantic House.

We require all candidates to bring along official transcripts or certificates for their GCSE and A-level exams (or equivalent) and all degree modules they have completed to date.

We normally make decisions at the end of the assessment day and you’ll be notified within five working days. Your travel expenses will be reimbursed.

If you require a reasonable adjustment to our assessment process, or have any access requirements, please contact our graduate recruitment team at recruit@hoganlovells.com or on +44 (0) 20 7296 2000.
