Citizenship
We want Hogan Lovells to be recognised as a good citizen wherever we work in the world.
Our commitment to good citizenship drives the way we invest in our people, promote diversity and give back to the communities in which we live and work. It is also reflected in the way we embrace ethical business practices and recognise our responsibilities in terms of sustainability. We put very strong emphasis on fairness, and have been at the forefront of the global movement to advance social justice and the rule of law by providing legal services at no cost.
Our citizenship goals
Pro bono
Providing quality legal services to those most in need and least able to pay is
an integral part of being a lawyer. We were the first firm in the City to establish
a full-time pro bono unit in 1997, and we now deliver over 29,000 hours of free
legal advice annually to more than 200 charities, social enterprises, not-for-profit
organisations and individuals. Read more about our pro bono work.
Diversity and equality
Our success as a global legal practice depends on our ability to attract and retain
the brightest people, and to foster a work environment where individuals from all
backgrounds can reach their full potential. Read more about our diversity as a firm.
Community investment
We support and develop projects that focus on poverty and exclusion in the communities
in which we work. The excellent relationships we have forged with partnering agencies
and local community leaders help to ensure our community work is relevant, well
executed and sustainable.
Global giving
We use our worldwide reach to support projects that improve social conditions for
some of the world’s poorest people. In the last year we have made available over
£250,000 of matched funding for charities, provided over £300,000 for the emergency
situation in Haiti, and given support to numerous local charities.
Environment
We recognise our responsibility to work in a sustainable way and are absolutely
committed to minimising our environmental footprint.
Marketplace
As one of the world’s leading law firms, we want to set the highest standards in
terms of how we conduct our business and how our actions affect our employees, clients,
suppliers and the wider community.
