Mentoring and support

Mentoring and support

Mentor partners and supportive colleagues will help you gain the very best training experience during your two years.

Mentoring

You will always have access to a partner throughout your training contract, and you will be able to discuss your career progress and any concerns or issues you have with him or her. Our mentor partners will offer insights and suggestions based on years of experience, and this support can prove invaluable as you meet new and sometimes difficult and unexpected challenges. We try to ensure that you don’t work directly with your mentor partner, so you are free to discuss any aspect of your work life.

Colleagues

You will also benefit from the ongoing support of your team – fellow trainees, lawyers and partners alike. Indeed, Hogan Lovells is noted for the excellent access trainees have to senior colleagues, and our open culture ensures that you can talk openly with a wide range of people from across the legal practice.

Trainee Solicitor Liaison Committee

Each intake of trainees also elects two of its members to the Trainee Solicitor Liaison Committee. Every three months they will meet with the Trainee Development team to table ideas, feedback and concerns voiced by their fellow trainees. They are also responsible for planning and promoting social events for trainees – a very important part of the job, as you often gain some of the most useful insights while talking informally.
