Legal Practice Course (LPC)
We require every prospective trainee solicitor to undertake the accelerated LPC at BPP London. The course will prepare you for practice in the City.
Along with other leading firms, Hogan Lovells has worked with BPP Law School in London to develop an enhanced and accelerated LPC course tailored to the requirements of City firms. The course meets standards approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. It runs for seven and a half months, with much of the teaching conducted face-to-face and each student receiving a high level of individual guidance throughout. The course is designed to inspire motivation, from beginning to end. There are two intakes – in August and February – with a period of self-study that must be completed before you start.
As the course is based in London, you will have access to the Hogan Lovells office. We will run presentations and social events to help you learn more about the firm, complementing the knowledge you gain on the LPC and helping to smooth your transition from student to trainee solicitor.

This is a law conversion course that enables a graduate in a non-law subject to convert to a career in law. Hogan Lovells requires all future trainee solicitors to study the GDL in Leeds, London or Manchester. You can discuss this with us at events, or contact us directly. We provide financial assistance, both for the GDL and the LPC, to successful training contract applicants. This includes payment of course fees and a maintenance grant to assist you with living costs during the period of study. Please note, however: we do not offer retrospective funding to students who have already commenced or completed the GDL or LPC before accepting an offer from us.
The amount of the financial assistance offered varies according to the fees charged by the college concerned and its location. Our maintenance grants are:
- £7,000 for LPC students
- £8,000 for GDL students in London
- £7,000 for GDL students outside London
