John Lewis case study

The John Lewis Partnership owns two of the largest UK retailers, John Lewis department stores and Waitrose supermarkets.
It also operates Greenbee, an online service which offers a range of travel, leisure and financial services to its customers. The John Lewis Partnership is a unique organisation, which is owned by its employees (referred to as “Partners”). We are able to use our specialist departments to advise the John Lewis Partnership on a variety of legal issues affecting its business including commercial business to business arrangements, property transactions and financial services advice.
Recent work highlights include:
- Advising Waitrose on its relationship with Ocado, including assisting in the negotiation of the new ten year sourcing deal.
- Advising John Lewis on an agreement to lease its new flagship store in Leeds.
- Advising Waitrose on its acquisition of Somerfield stores from the Co-operative group and Somerfield.
